The General Laboratory for Testing and Research (Laboratori General d’Assaigs i Investigacions, LGAI) is established in Barcelona as a public testing and research entity.

1986

Building of a new LGAI facilities: a multidisciplinary technological center with 60,000 m2 dedicated to product testing, research and certification.

2003

Privatization of LGAI with its incorporation into the Applus+ private company as a division dedicated to testing and certification.

2006

Start of Applus+ LGAI activities in China.

2009

Acquisition of ABAC, an engineering company dedicated to testing tools and processes.

2011

Acquisition of BKW, a leading materials testing company and Airbus Tier 1 supplier with headquarters in the Bremen industrial cluster.

2012
Launch of the ‘Applus+ Laboratories’ brand to support the internationalisation of the Applus+ Group division dedicated to testing, engineering and product certification.   
2013
New material testing laboratory dedicated to the oil & gas industry opens in Norway. 
2014
  • Applus+ is listed on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
  • New electrical -and electronic- product testing laboratory set up in Saudi Arabia.
  • Shanghai's composite-materials laboratory receives NADCAP accreditation.
  • Applus+ sells its testing laboratories for agrifood and consumer products.
